Fault detection and fault diagnosis systems, SNI 2

Francisco Ronay received his Ph.D. in Automatic Control from the University of Lorraine, France, in 2014. He has been a full professor at the National Technological Institute of Mexico, IT Tuxtla Gutiérrez, since 2008. He serves on the editorial boards of Mathematical and Computational Applications and the International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. Dr. Ronay has authored or co-authored over 60 research papers in ISI-indexed journals and presented at numerous international conferences. He has led several funded research projects, both as a sole investigator and in collaboration with other researchers.

In addition, he actively collaborates with European institutions, including the University of Lorraine, the University of Paris 2, the University of Stavanger, and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. His research interests include fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control based on convex LPV and Takagi-Sugeno models, with applications in electromobility, leak detection, and the safety and management of UAVs, mobile robots, and water distribution systems.

Model-based predictive control, SNI I

Guillermo Valencia-Palomo was born in Merida, Mexico, in 1980. He received the Engineering degree in Electronics from the Tecnológico Nacional de México-IT Mérida, Mexico, in 2003, and the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degree in Automatic Control from the National Center of Research and Technological Development (CENIDET) in 2006 and The University of Sheffield U.K. in 2010, respectively. Since 2010, Dr. Valencia-Palomo is a Full-time (Tenured) Professor at Tecnológico Nacional de México-IT Hermosillo. He is author/co-author of more than 40 research papers published in ISI-Journals and several international conferences. As a product of his research, he has 1 patent in commercial exploitation. He has led a number of funded research projects and the funding for these projects is comprised of a mixture of sole investigator funding, collaborative grants, and funding from industry. His research interests include predictive control, linear parameter varying systems, fault detection, fault-tolerant control systems, and their applications to different physical systems.

Since 2021 Guillermo is Associate Editor of the IEEE ACCESS Journal.

Machine learning, data-driven fault diagnosis

Ildeberto de los Santos Ruiz (I. Santos-Ruiz) received his Engineering degree in Electronics and his M. Sc. degree in Mechatronics from the Instituto Tecnológico de Tuxla Gutiérrez, Mexico, in 1995 and 2014, respectively. He receives his PhD degree in Automatic Control, Robotics and Vision from the Polytechnique University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2021. Since 1995, he works as a Full-Time Professor at the Tecnológico Nacional de México (TecNM) in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, where he teaches different undergraduate and graduate courses. He has also served as a teacher at the Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas, the Colegio de Bachilleres de Chiapas, the Universidad Valle del Grijalva, and the Universidad del Valle de México, among others. His research interests are modeling, simulation, diagnosis and control of physical systems using machine learning techniques and computational intelligence.

Víctor Esrada is a Mechatronics Engineer from the University of Guadalajara (2005-2009). Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Automatic Control from CINVESTAV Unit Guadalajara (2010-2012). Doctor of Science, specializing in Automatic Control from the University of Valenciennes and Hainaut-Cambrésis, France (2012-2015). CONAHCYT Postdoctoral Fellow attached to the PNPC Graduate Program in Engineering Sciences at the Technological Institute of Sonora, Mexico (2016-2018). Member of the National System of Researchers, Level 1. Starting in October 2018, a research professor affiliated with the Mechatronics Engineering department at the Polytechnic University of Pachuca. Areas of interest: Analysis and synthesis of nonlinear systems through convex models and linear matrix inequalities.

Dra. María Eusebia GUERRERO SÁNCHEZ

 Eusebia received the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from the National Center for Research and Technological Development, Mexico, in 2017. She has held post-doctoral positions at the French-Mexican Laboratory on Computer Science and Control UMI-LAFMIA 3175 at CINVESTAV, Mexico. She is currently full-time professor at Tecnológico Nacional de M{exico/I.T. Hermosillo, Mexico, and member of the National Research System SNI since 2017. Her research interests are focused on passivity-based control, nonlinear control, and UAVs.

Adaptive nonlinear observers, SNI I

​Omar Hernández González was born in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico, in 1983. He received the Engineering degree in Electronics from the Tecnológico Nacional de México-IT Minatitlan, México, in 2005, and the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degree in Automatic Control from the National Center of Research and Technological Development (CENIDET) Mexico, in 2008 and The University of Caen Normandie, France in 2017, respectively. Since 2019, Dr. Hernández-González is member of the National Research System SNI, México. His research interests include nonlinear control, delayed systems, observer designs and its applications to UAV and chemical processes.

Dr. Samuel Gómez-Peñate

Fault tolerant control of convex systems

He received a Ph.D. degree with The Highest Distinction in Engineering Science from the Technological Institute of Mexico, in 2021, and M.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering in 2016 from the National Center of Research and Technological Development, México.   He is the author/co-author of more than 10 research papers published in ISI-Journals and international conferences. 
His research interests are centered on fault diagnosis, fault-tolerant control systems, Takagi-Sugeno systems, LPV systems, and its applications.

Dra. Flor Lizeth TORRES-ORTIZ

Pipeline modeling and diagnosis, SNI I

​ Lizeth earned her bachelor's degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Veracruz and her master's degree from Centro Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico (CENIDET), both in electronic engineering. She received a Ph.D. in Automatic Control from Université de Grenoble in 2011 and worked as a temporary assistant professor and researcher (ATER) at ENSE3, INP Grenoble in France. She is currently a full time research staff member (CONACyT Research Fellow) at Instituto de Ingeniería, UNAM in Mexico City. Her research interests include the modeling, state estimation and diagnosis systems of transmission lines, pipeline networks and marine structures.

Dr. Manuel de Jesús López Pérez

Power electronics, electromobility

Trained in electronic engineering, Master and Doctor of Science in electronic engineering, his specialty is focused on automatic control, instrumentation and power electronics, whose applications in the industrial and energy sectors are growing in the world. Most of his work has focused on the design, development, and control of hybrid power systems. Recently, his activities have focused on the electrification of conventional traction systems. Electromobility has been the main objective and interest of the last projects that it used due to the great benefits and opportunities that it represents.

Dr. Armando Fragoso Mandujano

Artificial intelligence, Computer vision

Armando Fragoso Mandujano earned his Doctorate in Engineering Sciences with honors from the Technological Institute of Tuxtla Gutierrez in 2022, specializing in Intelligent Systems. He spearheads a funded research project and co-supervises master's and doctoral theses. His research interests are designing machine learning systems applied to artificial vision algorithms embedded in single-board computers.

M.C. José-Ángel ZEPEDA-HERNÁNDEZ

Power electronics

José Ángel is a professor of the Electronic Engineering department, he has a  Master of Science in Mechatronics Engineering since 2014.  José is the leader of the academic group of Intelligent Control Systems. He has supervised several masters and bachelors theses. His subjects of interest are electric vehicles, control systems based on neural networks and power electronics.

M. C. Osvaldo Brindis Velázquez

Robotics, Precision agriculture

Osvaldo Brindis holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and a Master's in Mechatronics Engineering, both from the Technological Institute of Tuxtla Gutierrez, 2010. He currently serves as the Head of the Graduate Studies and Research Division at the Technological Institute of Comitán, where his research focuses on the development of electric vehicles for precision agriculture.
